The awards recognise the outstanding use of colour in commercial and residential projects across Australia and New Zealand.

This year’s winner of the Grand Prix, was North Bondi Amenities by Sam Crawford Architects with Lymesmith. The judges remarked that the project was “A timeless accomplishment that has been created for the mass, yet is still so beautifully considered.”

The theme this year was ‘Bold, Forward, Tilted’ and the awards look to showcase and reward the most inventive use of colour in built environments. Each year submissions are looked at that take creativity to new heights and break free of tradition to deliver concepts that represent the future of colour and design.

From the very subtle to the big and bold, the housing winners all reflected a careful placement of colour. And with several of the entries, it was all about colour accents. The winner of the Multi Residential Interior category, Coppin Street Apartments by MUSK Architecture Studio, featured an apartment with bright pops of a bright acid yellow that makes a standout contrast to timber cabinetry and concrete floors.
